Tabernacle of Hope: Bridging Your Darkened Past Toward a Brighter Future is Kerry's history concerning his own darkened past, the struggles with that past, and how he overcame it, as well as how others can overcome their pasts and go on to a much brighter future.

In 1977 Kerry and his wife joined a non-violent Christian community. They thought their isolation from society, in raising their children in a very rural area, was the best asset of that community. As it turned out, it became their worse enemy, allowing deception to enter into the locally-popular community. Within 4 years, that religious community became a paramilitary, racist, terrorist organization, and destructive cult.

Kerry began to realize in 1983 that he no longer believed in the group's direction and sought to reverse its direction. Psychologically beaten down and spiritually abused by the group's leader, Kerry's own insecurities led Kerry, in the summer of 1984, to volunteer for a terrorist mission that ultimately had him take a briefcase of explosives into a gay church.

With full intention of completing his mission, Kerry went in, preparing to commit what would have been the largest domestic terrorist act in U.S. history at that time. But within 30 minutes of entering that gay church one Sunday morning, the actions of the congregation, coupled with the reality of the situation, began his rescue from a destructive path.

Eight months later (less than a month before his planned departure from the group known nationally as CSA --- the Covenant, Sword & Arm of the Lord), Kerry became the negotiator between CSA and the federal government during a four-day armed standoff with some 300 law-enforcement officers. Kerry was successful in his quest for a peaceful surrender of the group's leader, but was also charged with crimes committed by the group and spent 26 months in prison.

Over the next several years, Kerry was able to sort out the propaganda, guilt, condemnation, religious rhetoric and prejudice of his past, and wrote his first book about his experience, Tabernacle of Hate, published in 1998. By sharing with law-enforcement and human-rights organizations over the years about the mentality of the extremist movement, Kerry was an invaluable source for education, as well as an aid to helping others to get out of the destructive hate movement.

Kerry never hid from his past, but was determined to embrace it, letting its lessons become a foundation for his life! After Tabernacle of Hate went out of print, Kerry decided to later self-publish this second book, which capsulizes the first one, but also adds new material to help those who might also have a darkened past, to be able to bridge them toward a brighter future.

Tabernacle of Hope --- through a series of 12 Strategies and other insights --- shows those who want a brighter future how to get beyond their past, how to forgive, how to heal, how to set goals for the future and how to truly have a balanced and fruitful life.

Kerry's story, though disturbing, is also enlightening and inspirational.
